    NEW BRITAIN – Capt. Hector Lopez, 59, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Maria (Rivera) Lopez. Hector was born Aug. 10, 1959, in Waterbury, the son of the late Deacon Alejandro and Anna (Tirado) Lopez.

    Highway 67 MVA with Extrication

    At 10:03 p.m. on Monday July 23, 2018, Local 2164 and 4116 members responded to a mutual aid assist with West Douglas County Fire District for vehicle accident requiring technical rescue on Highway 67 just west of Oak Valley Road. When West Douglas Firefighters arrived they found a cement truck down a steep embankment with heavy damage and used ropes to descend down.
